Kevin M. Faulkner, Ph.D.

Kevin M. Faulkner focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret with an emphasis on patent drafting and prosecution. His areas of technical expertise include chemical, chemical engineering, and mechanical.
After finishing his doctorate, Kevin was a research associate at the Duke University Department of Biochemistry, then at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he co-authored reviews and scientific articles. After several years of research, he attended law school where he was editor-in-chief of the law review. Kevin worked for two years as an associate with an IP firm in Fort Worth, TX before joining ExxonMobil Corporation as in house Counsel. For twenty years, Kevin served as patent counsel for numerous business and research groups within the Chemicals division of ExxonMobil, with responsibility for advising clients in general IP strategies and assisted in implementing those strategies through patent procurement, agreement negotiation related to the development and licensing of technology, and freedom-to-operate analysis. He also served as patent counsel for two years with Univation Technologies, an ExxonMobil joint venture. Kevin published a novel before joining Ditthavong, Steiner, & Mlotkowski.
